Cinnamon Circles Recipe

Ingredients

Butter softened

Semisweet/milk chocolate morsels

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl with electric mixer set at high speed, beat butter until smooth; gradually add sugar; beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in vanilla.
  3. In a medium bowl combine flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add to butter mixture, beating until just combined; cover bowl.
  5. Chill dough until firm but not hard, about 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls using 1 tablespoon dough for each.
  8. Place on ungreased cookie sheets 2 1/2 inches apart.
  9. Using the bottom of a floured glass, press each ball into a 2 inch circle.
  10. Bake until just golden around the edge, about 6 minutes.
  11. Do not over bake.
  12. Remove from baking sheets to a wire rack; cool completely.
  13. In a small saucepan over very low heat melt chocolate morsels, stirring constantly.
  14. Frost half of each cookie using a small spatula.
  15. Place on a rack to set.
  16. Refrigerate in a tightly covered container.
